I have no memory of recording this, or even writing it, but I know I did. It's based on a novel of the same title by Janet M Warner, and I think I did quite well with the arrangement as well as with the lyrics. When I get to it, this will be on my next album but one, the long-awaited Owls.
lyrics
Blood On Bookwalk
Verse
Dancing the lightning, embracing the thunder
He named her and claimed her, a waif and a stray
Her heart was broken, she spoke and he heard her
A tale of foul murder, of peace torn away.
Verse
Life in the balance, tearing asunder
A Keeper, a sleeper, a prince or a slave
How could he dream that the scream that he heard then
Would bring a new burden, from beyond the grave.
Chorus
Now there's blood on Bookwalk - the dead are rising
Blood on Bookwalk - we speak their names
There's blood on Bookwalk - the past is waking
An old oathbreaking, an ancient shame.
Verse
The crystal mirror, it made him wonder
A broken token from a world long lost
He tried to read it, to feed it some power
And in that dark hour, he knew the dread cost.
Chorus
Now there's blood on Bookwalk - the dead are rising
Blood on Bookwalk - we speak their names
There's blood on Bookwalk - the past is waking
An old oathbreaking, an ancient shame.
Verse
Torture and treachery, pillage and plunder,
Cloak violence in silence, the wages of war
They did not live to forgive their deceiver,
Now the ghosts of Kniva are stirring once more.
Chorus
And there's blood on Bookwalk - the news is breaking
Blood on Bookwalk - soon all will know
There's blood on Bookwalk - the shadows are falling
But the dead are calling, and now he must go.
To undo an evil from long long ago.

Words and music by Zanda Myrande.
Zanda Myrande is still recovering from the trauma of being Zander Nyrond for several decades. She has only come out online
at this point, for reasons which may be apparent from the picture above, but she proudly embraces her trans identity while still giving house room to Zander and the rest of the deadbeats who populate her head.
